On the other hand, had a McDonald's employee spilled the coffee ON ME while passing it to me through the drive-thru window and it burned me, I'd expect compensation of at least my dry cleaning and any medical expenses.
But that would have been something out of my control and at the hands of an incompetent.
Once it's out of their hands and into mine, however, then I'm responsible for what happens then.
And since every site I just googled that dealt with making coffee mentions to "boil" the water, I know that the coffee is going to be damned hot when I get it.
