At the end of the day though coffee is hot.

I use a French Press to make coffee. I boil the water to 212 degrees then pour it over the grounds and let it brew.

I know the shit is hot before I put it to my lips.

I also know if I spill it it will burn me.

I also know that getting coffee in a flimsy styofoam cup while in a car and trying to add cream and sugar to it is likely going to result with me being burned.

"Witnesses for McDonald's admitted in court that consumers are unaware of the extent of the risk of serious burns from spilled coffee served at McDonald's required temperature, admitted that it did not warn customers of this risk, could offer no explanation as to why it did not, and testified that it did not intend to turn down the heat even though it admitted that its coffee is "not fit for consumption" when sold because it is too hot. "

Neither is the coffee I serve myself from a French Press. But I know it's hot and I wait for it to cool.

Most people do this.

If McDonalds served coffee at drinking temperature then by the time you had put it in your holder, pulled out of the drive through, got on the road and could safely pick up the cup to drink it it would be cold. And then people would complain about that.

I still feel no sympathy and I don't understand the mindset. She burned herself screwing around with a liquid she knew would be hot.
