Serious question. This may seem lame to you guys but...

My 13 y.o. daughter wants to get cartilage pierced (upper ear). I'm all for letting her express her individuality so I have no real problem with it. My questions are

1. Do you think she is too young?
2. Are there any special maintenance issues. I heard cartilage never heals so you could never take it out.
