Actually, my point WAS that pharm co.s spend a lot of money on marketing and advertising of existing drugs. It's a volume business. So R&D isn't what is driving their profitability in the first place.

As far as advances in medicine being soley or largely due to capitalism, that's exactly true, either. It can be motivator, but it certainly isn't the only motivator.

No, I don't have a problem with capitalism. What I do have a problem with is placing profit motive as a higher priority than fighting a global pandemic.
