HOWEVER, few drug companies could survive selling existing drugs, esp. once patent prortection is lost and they go generic. Not that those are bad things, but it is a business, and the point is to make money. I am sorry, but without the profit motive I highly doubt there would have been the amazing advances we have seen in medicine. Academia and charitable orgs just could not afford to fund research. Marketing is necessary to stay in business.

Many people on this board seem to have a problem with companies existing to earn a profit. Profit is not perverse. It has provided a wonderful standard of living and better lives for many of us!
