yeah, but i can see where he's coming from; bloody sunday, and mai lai were both actions by an outside security/army force, who committed a vile act and then lied about it. when saddam's goons crushed protest, well, it sucked, but it was hussein. it was expected.

his examples were much more similar to what just happened in iraq than to the actions hussein undertook to crush dissent. hell, he could also compare it to actions during the first intifada, if he wanted to, there were some similar actions by the IDF in the 80's.

truth is, just like bloody sunday and mai lai, we regular citizens probably won't know the real truth for some time to come. 40 years from now, we may get the real story, and by then few will really care.
