I just read in the LA Times this morning that a good friend of mine from high school, and an early 80's scooterist, hung himself in a psych hospital in Pasadena last April after struggling for years with the effects of being molested as a kid on a church campout, and continued molestations over the course of 4 years. I knew him to have severe depression and emotional problems, but never knew why. His parents are suing the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Salesians,and the psych hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
Richard was a hell of a great guy. I wish I had kept in better touch with him. I'm gonna miss him.
When will the goddamn church fess up to its sins and quit protecting those bastards who do these things to people?
