Nice Try

"I don't believe I have been wrong about the war at all. I still think it's a disaster waiting to happen"

Waiting to happen. Ok, Sure. What happened to the millions of refugees and hundreds of thousands of deaths that you and our pride and joy, the Hollywood elite, predicted. How about how the ordinary Iraqis would fight us tooth and nail. Didn't count on them having the brains to put down their weapons and decide to live in freedom, did you.

"No WMD, I was right about that."

The jury is still out on that one! Let's talk again in 6 months, after the captured scientists start making deals with us!

"Loads of poor Iraqis and working class Americans getting killed,I was right about that"

Oh now it's "loads"; but i bet you thought (and maybe hoped) it was going to be more. The small number of causualties was an absolute testament to our skills and compassion. Of course every American and Iraqi killed or injured is tragic.

"I said it would cost a shitload when America has got other problems to sort out."

What price freedom. It is priceless. It is worth dying over.

"You fail to make the distinction between a cynic and a realist"

Then please make it for me, I am confused.

"If we talk about freedom being taken for granted, look in the mirror. Try and have a rational discussion if we are talking about freedom."

Bring it on, I think you will lose. What's to discuss? This one is a slam dunk. Only Americans can understand how we feel about our freedom.

"Be prepared for a long stay in Iraq, and be prepared to pay for it"
Agreed, it will be long and difficult. I don't mind paying for it at all. We did it with Germany and Japan. And the world is better for it.

Are you calling me and Asswipe, wow, I'm intimidated. How can I respond to such wit?"

Don't take my hyperbole too seriously!

"And France can kiss your ass why? For disagreeing with you? You talk about freedom, but freedom is all about disagreement"

Kudos to France for sticking to their position, it took balls. But now they will pay the price. Just like my children: They have the freedom to disagree when I ask them to be home at a certain hour, and I respect their ability to make their own decision to ignore me, but of course they will be grounded for it. See, with freedom comes responsibility. Of course France can disagree with us, but of course we will cut them out where we can for their decision. Like Nato perhaps. France has told us they do not need us. Congrats, you will get what you wish for. You have more to lose than we do.

"Debate and discussion is not about who shouts the loudest."

Agreed, but that does not preclude shouting.

"Stirred up loads of Anti US feeling in otherwise indifferent nations."

With no disrespect to the UK, if we worried about that we'd still be eating fish and chips and saving the queen. Others may hate us for it, but we are a positive nation of doers and achievers, the bulk of whose citizens love and would die for. And lo and behold thousands upon thousands of others wish to be here and try to come here. Hey if it's not for you, I respect that.

"If you hadn't invaded, there would be no contracts to pass around to GWB and his mates, which has to raise questions about auxillary motivation in your head of state"

But how much has France made in the last ten years from Iraq? And how many billions does it stand to lose from Saddam's fall. France has financial motivations as well.
