RE: What the FUC@!!!!
By: Return of SOC - 04/24/2003, 06:17:37 In reply to desnext>>
This is a great post. I'm going to send it to a few of my freinds. Basicaly it dispalys incredible arrogance and displays a complete lack of understanding for the situation in Iraq and the implications of recent events.

It's like a guy picking at a scab, I can't resist.

>I was just talking about this with some friends. What the
>fuck does Iraq produce?? Is there anyone driving an Iraqi
>car? Wearing imported Iraqi designer clothes? Is there any
>Iraqi technology that is making the world a better place?
>Medicine? Science? Agriculture? Manufacturing? WHAT????
>The only listing for Iraqi GNP is oil, "oil producing
>nation". They don't produce it, it's just luck of geology
>that it's there.

They have, you don't, tough shit. Oh sorry it's not tough shit cos youi invaded. As to luck of geology, the same could be said of luck of nationality.

Over 60% of that country is welfare. It's
>bullshit that we are going to cough up all this money to
>rebuild a welfare state. I'm sure we'll get paid back in
>oil, maybe.

Fucking sure you'll get paid back in oil, but after 10 years of UN/US sanctions it's no surprise that it's got sod all industry. Saudi Arabia doesn't produce many cars either, it doesn't have to. If you had that much oil would you bother?

They are already bitching about us being there.
>Fuckers.

Well wouldn't you? No one likes to see foreign soldiers on their streets. Also the three best words in the english language "told you so".

If they are so brave why didn't they throw out
>their own dictator?? They have the potential to be one of
>the richest nations in the world, but they live in the 12th
>century and herd goats. They come to the western countries
>to get world class educations, then go home and live in
>adobe houses and wail to the east 5 times a day. I would
>like to think that most of the idiots there are idiots for
>being denied any type of education that does not involve
>religion. BUT there is no excuse after learning that there
>is a whole world and universe out there that does not
>revolve around a god damn book!

The US way of life doesn't suit everyone.,that's just a fact, no matter how idiotic you think that is. personally I don't like the US ideology, but I that's just me, I don't necessarily think you are an idiot for being an advocate of it, but it doesn't make me an idiot for disagreeing with it either.
The religious aspect is no more ridiculous than any other kind of prayer meeting of any type, to suggest otherwise is racist. Thing of Televangelists and the wailing wall in Jeruselem. Get out more, the world is a very big place.

So the way I understand it,
>is that we're going to rebuild their infrastructure, basic
>necessities. Fine, needs to be done. We blew them up, I
>guess we clean up the mess. We teach them to keep the
>electricity running, the water sanitized, the sewage out of
>the streets, how to repair roads, how to keep clean, basic
>medicine, how to grow their own food so that if the
>government truck doesn't arrive with the pita they won't
>starve, basically how to fend for themselves, etc. These are
>things they should know how to do anyways.

They do. The typical Iraqi has a probably got a better education than most americans. They know this stuff already, it's abit more complicated than that, honest.

But that is a lot
>of money going to people who won't appreciate it, nor do I
>believe they would understand what we've done enought to
>appreciate it. A friend of mine went into the Peace Corp
>after high school. He went to central america. He told me
>that they'd go into these dirt poor villages, dig wells,
>build aquifers, irrigations systems, build a sewage system,
>teach the villagers how to use it and move on. After several
>months of this they would go back the route they took, and
>visit the previous villages. He told me that every one of
>those villages had all the wells polluted, the aquifers were
>destroyed, dead animals and sewage in the wells, basic
>hospitals destroyed, and the people would just ask them to
>build the stuff for them again. He finally got so sick of it
>he quit, but others kept rebuilding the same things for the
>people who would destroy it....over and over again. So
>without these people knowing the full potential of the
>things we would rebuild and give to them, it's worthless in
>my point of view.

Then I guess you shouldn't have been so in favour of the war in the first place. The cost of this thing is only beginning.

It's a nation of mostly welfare cases who
>want others to take care of them. I wonder if we are going
>to adopt them as a welfare state that wants our money and
>our goods, but does nothing in return. A nation of
>consumers. We got the boot of their oppresor of their necks,
>lets just give them a a boost, and nothing more. If we can
>recoup some of our expenses with oil, fine. It's all they
>have to give to pay us back.

Whilst the Iraqi people are extremely pleased to be rid of Saddam, a large majority (Shia) see the power vacum as an excellent opportunity to start a hardline Islamic state. That's democracy for you and is a real disaster for the US. To say these people are welfare cases is really ignorant and generalist. Iraq is not like the US, what they want is not necessarily what you want. People tried to warn about this before the war. You have no right to Iraqi oil at all, to appropriate it without the consent of the Iraqi people is theft. They would argue that whilst they are glad to be free of Saddam, they never asked you to invade in the first place adn the cost to the US only begins to pay for some of the thousands of Iraqi dead and injured. Also, many civilian children were killed and horribly maimed, don't expect fuck all thanks from the Iraqi's for that. That's just a fact, not a judgement of one kind or another.

All that food and supplies come
>from somewhere. Since most states can't even fund school
>programs anymore, I don't think that much money is needed
>and could be better spent here at home.
> My 2 cents rambled into a dollar, sorry.
>

No shit Sherlock. Before the war no one wanted to know about the cost and the Whitehouse covered it up, this little escapade will be sucking the blood out of your paycheck for years to come. Now people are wising up toom late. Funnily enough all the contracts are going to US firms, specifically mates of GWB. God bless.Alll that money on a gamble and 2 miles from the whitehouse are places so fucked up they make Mogadishu seem like Manhattan.
