The profit motive, of course |
There can be no peace and happiness without the profit motive.
Compare: US, Israel, UK, Spain (kind of, when they're not drinking sangria at 2 in the afternoon)
vs.
North Korea, communist Russia, communist China, Cuba. In most of these countries, the profit motive exists only with the top 1% (if that).
And by profit I don't mean that people need to be greedy and acquire "things" to be happy. But People need to know they can better themselves through hard work, and at least provide basic essentials for their families. Not wind up on the wrong end of an electrical cable.
