headlight bezzle/beauty ring

i finally got the freak'n headlight ring on, but....is there a trick or secret to putting on the bottom screws onto the headset? it took me a loooonnnnnggggg time to put the big screw (the one with the hole in it)and nut on, then more time putting the little screw in, to secure the headlight ring. i think i cross threaded the small screw, but by that time, i didn't care anymore, just as long as it's in. i dread having a cable bust, jeez...
